On Saturday, there was a Nab32 anchored at East Head. On leaving in the evening it crashed into a Bavaria 38 causing significant damage to the bow. There were a couple of witnesses, one of which took a photo of the boat, however at this time we do not know the name of the boat.

If the owner is reading this, would they please get in touch with me so I can pass the details to the Bavaria owner.

If anyone knows of a Nab32 based around the Chichester/Solent area, can you let me know the boat's details.

Based on the damage done to the Bavaria, I can't believe that that the Nab32 came away undamaged (I expect at least some bent/broken stantions). Apparently it was quite a loud bang and the children on the Nab were heard screaming.

Thanks

Bob

Description of the Nab? Even better a photo?

Will post the photo when I receive it (was taken by a witness).

We think the boat was local and went into Sparks marina.

If anyone has a paid sub to Marinetraffic etc and the NAB had AIS switched on perhaps a playback zoomed into that area/time would help?

Ok folks, so this is where we are...

I have been sent some photos, but it was sunset and so they are a bit dark and of poor quality. What we can see is that it is a Nab32 with a red UV strip on the genoa and a red sprayhood. It also has davits on the back with a dinghy hanging.

I did a search online of "Nab32 Chichester" and found this boat which was for sale in 2014 and looks very similar (and could well be the same boat).

So we're looking for a boat just like this one with davits on the back.

There was a Moody 47 who saw it and tried that, but it obviously didn't have a AIS transmitter.

Ta, that's distinctive, especially the davits. Will keep my eye out.

Have you considered contacting Hayling Island Rescue? He's out and about in the Harbour 24/7/365. If it's about much or on a mooring he might well be familiar with it. Ditto the conservancy harbour patrol guys who can be contacted directly. Conservancy and Hayling Island Rescue have FB presence which will be seen by a lot of Harbour regulars.

I have a new photo, which clearly shows that the boat has a transom arch, not davits.

There can't be many about the Solent like this.

Sparks is an MDL marina, contact the marina manager, he may (only may) help. Failing that, someone needs to do a walkabout around Sparks a bit quick.

Behaviour like that is absolutely deplorable. The skipper ought to be thoroughly ashamed of himself, hope they find the boat.

So rather than type here, why hasn't someone gone like a rocket to Sparkes ?!

As mentioned that boat must be one of a kind, I'll certainly keep my eyes out next time I'm around but I'd hope easily sorted by then.

And yes I do deplore their ' hit and run ' - probably not insured at all...

Update - here is a better photo taken by another witness as the boat headed away from the collision (having just hit the Bavaria).

The owner has been to Sparke's and Northney yesterday to look for it.

A forumite has since sent me a message saying that they believe it lives in Fareham creek.

Well done. I hope the skipper puts his hands up and doesn't try to deny his actions. Proof, despite photos, might be harder, especially if he's sorted out any marks/damage to his boat by now.
