Need to buy stain or varnish for hardwood on deck

I will need to stain or varnish the rubbing strake on my boat because it will have two different shade/types
of wood after a repair.Any recommendations?Thanks

I've been using Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus for the last 20+ years on my exterior woodwork. Exceedingly satisfied.

Epifanes Rapidcoat. It has a slight teak tint and is excellent for disguising repairs. It is also very easy to apply and maintain.

You can either use a woodstain such as Coloron on the lighter wood to blend in with the darker before using a clear finish or use one of the darker tinted porous woodstain finishes that are readily available in DIY sheds.

However my approach would be the stain first then lightly tinted finish such as the Cetol or International Woodskin. You may need to experiment a bit with the stain to get the colour right, depending on how fussy you are with appearance.

I am finding that International Woodskin is not sticking to the wood where it gets salt water on it, specifically my grab rails on coach roof, and won't be using it there again. I don't even sail with the boat on her side that often!
