Need sailing boots - any recommendations?

For sailing Isolda? - I would have thought Gucci moccasins would be more appropriate. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't wear boots - always worried that when I went overboard (done it twice in the last 6 months /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) I would not be able to kick them off.

Nah, not for ISOLDA, I've been invited out to do some real sailing that might involve getting wet!

Why not pop into Duncans and see what they have? - usually get good advice from Kenny and Willie and the prices usually beat mail order, or will after "negotiation".

When you were told to take more water with it going overboard was not what was meant! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thought about some Dubarrys a couple of years ago, but I found them rather narrow. Went for Musto's equivalent which seemed slightly wider, and slightly cheaper.

Great boots. Very comfortable. I'm just back from 4 weeks sailing on the West Coast - I wore them all day, nearly every day. they seemed to keep my feet at a comfortable temperature regardless of what the weather was doing.

I have got a pair of Gill tall yachting boots. Advantage.... cheap compared to a lot of the others, and I find them very comfortable. They keep my feet warm and after 2 years haven't got any problems with them. Always wear them whenever on the boat, rain or shine /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif - they have got a good grip on a wet grp deck.

Lynn and I have bought the Yacht Boot Company boots. These are about 55 quid a pair. They are effectively razor cut soles like normal deck shoes, moulded rubber to support to heel level, and then wet suit neoprene material. Very warm, very waterproof, and knees level.
Only downside is when I have worn them without socks on, while tromping around the mud the insoles lift when pulling the boots off.
They also come in different colours, which is handy as we are only one size apart, and so have a red pair and a blue pair.
They dry out quickly and the mud washes off easily with a bucket and brush.
Recommended.
