Owens were a quality Boat builder in the USA who seemed to peak in the 1960's. They had some big craft like the Concorde and the Granada. Originally wood built (ply) they were strong and stable. However these days they seem to be more suited to inland and coastal use.
One little known fact is that Sunseeker started out fairly early on by buying an old 17ft mould off Owens in the USA to produce the 17 Soverign. Looking at yours it could be the same hull.
Looks like yours would of originally had a Corevette petrol engine inboard...but given reliability and its thirst it was probably removed a long time ago.
Good solid boats with good pedigree. There used to be a US owners forum but probably a victim of the recession as I can not find it any more!
Just checked a link to a forum I have been on before in the US. They claim Owens were "made in Dundalk, Md in a plant next to Bear Creek. Not far from Baltimore City on the east side."
