Need for anti-foul

New to the cruising game so looking for advice on the need to anti-foul. I will be buying a small, trailable bilge keeler for weekending and annual hols. The boat will never be in the water (fresh or salt) for more than about two weeks at any one stretch.

Just how fast does the crap accummulate? Anti-fouling paint is pretty nasty stuff from all accounts so I don't want to use it unnecessarily.

Would have thought you would only accumulate some slime which could easily be hosed off - i'd give it a go and see if you build up anything requiring anti-fouling.

Yes, I agree with this. Boats at our club on drying moorings are not antifouled and just get a wash down every once in a while

fwiw I had a look at the undersides yesterday which looked ok. Antifouled last June, since when in salt water on a marina berth.

Slip launched lifeboats are not antifouled and spend about as much time in the water as a trailable boat. Don't worry about it, a quick hose down does the trick, again slip launched boats spray the bottom with WD40 when it's back in the shed, seems to help. Nasty, expensive stuff antifouling, stay away from it!
