So my old faithful but weighed a tonne Suzumar dinghy was sold with the Seawings. This used to live on snap davits blocking up the swim platform, restricting access, and generally being annoying except for when it was needed.

With the Jeanneau not having snap davits but having a large lazarette and fair size swim platform, I'm now looking for a new lightweight dinghy that I can just inflate on that with a stirrup pump when we want to use it. Key requirements are:

1) Must fold down to a compact size, and do so easily
2) Needs to accomodate 2 adults and 2 young kids safely (so about 2.3-2.6m)
3) Must not weigh more than about 30kg
4) Have good sized tubes... I'm 6'2" and weigh..... well enough :)
5) Only gets used about 10 days a year, so not cost a fortune, but neither be ****
6) Preferably have an inflatable floor, though may be swayed if all other boxes ticked

We have considered a Seago 2.3 round tail as a budget option, but it's a praps a bit too much of a budget build too.....

Ladies and gentlemen... your suggestions please.

Thanks for those suggestions FP...
Quicksilver would be perfect, but ultra-light it isn't, and that really is too heavy to lift out of the lazarette :(
The Zodiac also looks good, and I saw one at SIBS, but I don't really want to pay as much as that....

Ho hum. Fussy sod, aren't I :)

I had a Plastimo P240, not the L version as mentioned earlier, it weighed around 27kgs from memory and had very good sized tubes. Having said that it was only rated to 3 people and it had slatted floor so probably not what you are looking for. Just mention is because I think the P240L will probably not be rated for 4 people.

Edit: just looked it up and the one that weighs 20kg is rated for 2 adults plus one child. There is a 26kg one, which may the current version of my old one which is rated for three adults

Edit again: They do a Pi270VB which weighs 27kg, has an inflatable floor and is rated for 3 adults plus 1 child. No idea what the price is though :-)

Edit even some more: Found one Here £760

I've just bought a second hand Honwave 2.4 from a very nice fellow at Mercury (& a forumite). I wanted something smaller and lighter than my Seago 270, but it still needed to take my 6hp Suzuki OB when needed. Compared to my Seago, its a country mile apart as far as build quality. Its lighter, and inflatable floor is all part of the boat instead of being a separate item. Will also take 3 adults +1 child. Tubes very big and its wide so for a smaller dinghy stability is as good as something larger. Really pleased with it.

...I do have 2 year old Seago 270 available.... in v.good nick!

Fwiw, we've got the above and whilst it's adequate for 3, we find it a bit unstable with the round tail with the outboard. We will be changing ours at some point ecause of that. However, it is very conveniently stowed away in the bag and simply pulled out and pumped up on board.

Tee hee, I just googled Pi270VB and got the same page!
There's an incredible amount of choice with these things.....

Have a look at the decent quality Lodestar range. They do an ultralight version in various sizes. We've got a 230 and it is well built, has big tubes and is light enough for me to carry ( I'm only a 10stone weakling as well).

I've had a Plastimo model with a semi rigid transom and that flexed a lot when using an outboard.
