I need the services of a Volvo mechanic I can rely on in the Aberystwyth area of Wales, or someone who is prepared to travel there. I have lost faith in our local outfit after a bodged job. Any recommends?

Windjammer Marine in Milford Haven are very good. I don't know whether they would travel to Aberystwyth. You may wish to phone them tomorrow on 01646 699070 and speak to Andrew McCloud if he's available (very experienced with various types of engine) or David Coates (good for all round advice).
