In one of those Laurel and Hardy moments I removed the fuel filler cap (the retaining chain is broken) and put it carefully on the deck behind me. Having finished fuelling I stepped back off the cockpit seat straight onto the cap, which like a champion tiddlywink shot out from under my shoe, up and over the seat and straight into the oggin to sink like a stone. :disgust:

I need to replace the cap but all I can find is complete replacement fittings, as it's not my boat I don't want to have to go that route. Anyone know if I can get the correct item? The local chandlers (Swanwick) have something that needs a winch handle but the skipper is not keen on that so looking for the original part if possible.

Cheers - wouldn't have occurred to me that you could buy just the caps, though I suppose it's logical. ASAP actually have quite a range: http://www.asap-supplies.com/search/filler+cap

Even though I haven't lost any, I might just buy a red and a blue one for fuel and water. All my fillers are next to each other, together with a disused one that would empty straight into the locker, so a mistake is all too possible.

Sorted, but what a faff. The off-the-shelf ebay type are the wrong thread, however a nice lady at Bainbridge Marine worked out what the right one was, but they won't deal with the public. Force 4 at Swanwick pulled all the stops out and ordered one for me poste-haste, now fitted. Unfortunately I can't lay hands on the bit of paper with the part number scribbled on it so can't confirm it, but for anyone in a similar pickle ring Bainbridge at Hedge End.

edit: Found it

picture is wrong but the part number P26331 is correct.
