Reminded by this thread of the need to get a dehumidifier to my garage, I just ordered a Meaco DD122 from Amazon. I've had one at the boat since 2012 and have been very happy with it.
As paul saliss mentioned, there is a sort of 'electric' smell emanating from the thing but I haven't been bothered by it. According to the manual (if I understood them correctly) the smell is a result of odours absorbed from the surrounding air, which are then expelled as the air is warmed. Not entirely sure what to make of the explanation but in my view the net result has been a fairly odourless and fresh interior.
