Neco autopilot

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of a good friend who hasn't got internet access. His boat is equipped with a Neco autopilot 8401. The control unit is apparently dead. Is there someone somewhere who could fix it, or, from what I have read in the search, maybe could it be replaced by something else ?
Any answer most appreciated.
