NECO 2000 XTE Autopilot (not) listening to the name "Bruno"....

Hi guys!
I was just wondering if there maybe is a technician reading this forum who used to work for/on NECO autopilots?

Thing is, we got an NECO 2000 XTE here (and I think the world of these great autopilots) which unfortnately are not beeing built anymore.

Replacing it would mean to replace the entire steering system since no-one seems to making AP's for mechanical wormdrive steering systems anymore.

We found a former representative of NECO here on Mallorca, but even so he was kind enough to have a look at the unit, due to his age we had to remove all parts from the boat and bring them to his office.
THERE the unit worled great! - After reinstalling it on the boat, it did not work at all!
(All cables reconnected exactly and double and tripple checked)

ALSO:
If anyone happens to have old parts (control unit?!) of an NECO 2000 XTE he does no longer need and knows to be in working condition, please let me know how I could get them from you

IF anyone of you happens to be be knowledgable about these AP's and maybe even will be in Mallorca or Gibraltar later next month, I would LOVE to meet you in person!

McSalty I cant help you with any Neco specifics. However, I have had electrical issues with installed equipment that works fine when not installed. In all cases the problems have been associated with soldered connections. When the equipment was mounted or a cover plate was put in place, the connection opened up. Look carefully at all connections with a magnifying glass and give a good pull to check security.

If you type Neco into the search engine it will list the posts on this forum, there are a few. Also go to http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/ and use the Google Search Option under the Search menu and type in Neco. Quite a lot of stuff there as well.

I have an older Neco system which stopped working. There are diagrams to convert my type on this forum.
