High wind speed recorded as 56.5kts. Now reading nil, since 04.10hrs.

Hopefully somebody's out there, looking for a fly-away anemometer.

Bit of a thread drift, but that Minack theatre looks superb!

Looks a bit less frenetic and my boat (in the distance) seems to be on a lee shore but the chain holding it is a strong one but you never know if a drifter will clobber it on the way through!

We came back from Roscoff on the overnight sailing last night. Left an hour early and made a fast crossing to avoid the winds: entered Plymouth harbour at about 0130 but were kept on board until normal disembarkation time of 0800. Quite lumpy even in the ferry port, engines running astern to hold the ship off the quay whilst unloading. Quite glad to have missed the winds in the channel....

In October 2017 I was picking up gear between The lizard and Mullion, it was more quiet than I ever remember at any time of year, I was able to put the (32ft, 14 ton) boat alongside the rock face, just to say I did. No camera, unfortunately.

Whew! The anemometer at Polruan lives! Don't when it was revived, but it's working this Monday morning.

I'd like a nearer one to me but the old St Mawes one seemed to shut down and Culdrose (HMS Seahawk ) has a different format.

Probably but they can only lift on spring tides and there isn't that many left between now and the end of October.

Penvouder beach indeed looks fine for experienced surfers and the seas seem to have quietened a bit, but I wouldn't want my boat in such a bay with a lee shore.

Just hope my moorings above Saltash are ok.
