On my Imray chart of the Solent, South West of Lymington entrance, off Pennington Marshes, there's a pile annotated on the chart 'NB'

I was looking at said pile a few evenings back.

What does 'NB' mean? I looked on the back of the chart and its not shown.

I seem to recall that NB had something to do with diving prohibited, but I may be wrong.

According to Admiralty publication 5011 Symbols and Abreviations used on Admiralty Charts NB represents Notice Board.
Maybe there was a notice on it once? (see buildings/miscellaneous stations.)

Oddly, on my Navionics it's "Nb" not "NB" but on the Admiralty charts, it's "NB". It looks like it marks the end of the sewer outfall. Maybe it says, "Swimming not advised". :)

I guess coming from Southern Water's Pennington waste water treatment works

Don’t know about this specific pile, but there are a few noticeboards around the river advising of the speed limit, plus I believe one warning that all the moorings are private and not to be used.

Navionics regularly make transcription errors in the wording on their charts, which are seemingly either manually retyped from the originals or possibly OCRed.
