NAVTEXT -Is it worth it?

Re: To bring you up to date

A f7 wind is not for the feint hearted or small boat. Its a great wind for heavy boats with strong crews. I wiuld not set sail with a wind of more than a f6, unless it was astern of the beam.

Many boats are crewed by families, ie a husband and wife, and many of those are effectively single handed. Many are not to be PC!

With strong winds, we can all sail reasobablly safely when everything is working and going well, but the risk strategy has to take into account a failure of some sort, be it crew, rudder, rigging, engine failure.

Don't urge amatuer sailors (me included) to take on more than their experience and abilityand boat is able.
