Hi,

One of my friends is based in Denmark and wondered what Navtex info was available for the area. Does anybody have any experience there.

Thanks

Andy

Yeah. Its the standard stuff, (area forecast) exactly as read out by Stockholm Radio (which can just about be received in Denmark). Timing is not great for day sailing however as it tends to arrive at about 11:00 local (morning and evening).

Navtex reception in Southern Denmark is usable but isnt that great either, particularly down South. A better bet is the German VHF Weather Forecast. Its in German but easy to pick up.

Better still, use GRIB files over email (GPRS). There's also good Danish wind flow forecasts on the Web from DMI here

Yes, it is. I spent six months sailing out there, and managed to recieve transmissions every day bar two- reception is much better than here, probably because the largest hill isn't much bigger than your typical mole hill.

But you're missing an opportunity if you rely on Navtex. Radio Lyngby (Sp?) gives forecasts in english on request, and one of their operators sounds very cute and is single (yes,I asked) .
