Navman plotter

I have had my share of reliability problems with Navman 3150 wind and 3100 depth instruments as has been posted here a few times by several people. The length of time to replace under warrenty was Dec 07 to end June 08.
The issue now is that I wonder whether to forgive them and upgrade to a Navman 8084 (8") plotter.
They are on offer and seem very good price compared with Garmin or Raymarine, I want at least an 8" screen. They have better resolution than the 8" Garmin. Has anyone had reliability issues with this kit. My existing small Navman plotter has been fine.

No major problems with mine for 2 seasons from a reliability point of view - I think once the unit had reset itself or I had to reset it back to the defaults when the GPS went a bit haywire but apart from that no problems with the 8084

you even ask the question. Bigger navman bigger load of trouble I'd think. Garmin gear is 1st rate and their support outstanding.

i have the northstar equivalent m84 and matching radar dome, all I can report is that I have had no problems so far. The screen resolution is excellent, radar picture is also particularly good.
