looking at getting a navman 5 inch screen plotter. The screen is in portrait mode rather than landscape like the Raymarines. Will the display be big enough???
anyone got one or something similar ???

I had the Navman 5500 (now replaced by the 5505) on my Bayliner a few years ago. Great little unit, and the screen was easily big enough. If you have space, it might be worth going for the 6505 which has a 6.5" screen.

totally agree with Jez Navman 5" is a great display, but the 6" is better if you have the space. Neither a really big enough for passage planning, but as an aid to the actual passage, they are very good. Personally I keep an eye on my depth display as well as the plotter, cause if they dont match, (within tide limits) somethings wrong and you need to confirm position the old fashioned way!

On the Navman you can change from North up to Course up so you get the boat heading up the screen rather than the narrow across screen
