I am considering getting the new navman chart plotter 5600, this is very similar to the 5500 but 6.4" instead of 5" display. This is for use on a 30' sports cruiser - so daylight visible is a must. Has anyone got any experience of either of these models ? Good or Bad or any other recomendations - space is a bit limited at the helm.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Good to see another Guern on the forum and one that has filled in his details also.

I have a tracker 500i and was thinking about getting the Navman but the experience I have had with mine against my od Garmin is that the Garmin was much more user freindly. I was thinking of getting the Garmin 238 which inorporates a fish finder.

Who is selling the NAVMAN and at what price.

North Quay marine have had some in but havn't got any at the moment (5500) they have got the leaflets! the 5600 is being released in NewZealand soon
I havnt got the prices to hand but they seamed V.reasonable if the gear is any good.

How muchare we talking about? The 238 is around £1000 locally with the cartridge but you can get it cheaper by shopping around or pick a smaller display, the 238 has 7.1" 18cm display but is mono only.

I think off top of head the 5500 was £799 local, without chart
Dont know yet but think we can get the 5600 from NZ for approx £850 and that might include the chart, we are also considering the fuel metering kit for it
Both models are colour & supposed to be daylight viewable

I have a fuel flow meter with my 500i but don t use it. I wil be selling the 500i and meter to fund the 238.

Like you I dont have a huge amount of room on the dash so I need to fit the fishfinder into the plotter.
