A few days back I posted about problems with my Navman 7100 DSC VHF (volume control stopped working). Bought the radio last summer. I sent the unit back to Navimo (Plastimo) and have received a replacement radio by return of post. All free of charge (they told me the warranty is two years - yiuppeee!).
Take home message: three cheers for the guys at Navimo, who have been very helpful and quibble free: I will certainly be buying things from them again!

Well done Navimo!!!

And well done tiggertoo for commending them!

I know some on here will say that they're only doing their job, but I think a well done in customer service is needed.

yes of course they are only doing their job, and that is what I paid them for. But I am still very happy that they are. We need more info on companies that give good aftersales service: it is invaluable.

I believe, from the comments on a recent Radio 4 programme, that all goods bought within the EU must come with a 2 year guarantee - regardless of whether the retailers tell you its 12 month or 24!

Still it is good to hear of good service being provided.

It could be said that your statutory rights give you up to six years regardless of what the manufacturer says. Obviously something that is designed to last only a year (oil filter perhaps) will not be covered but a boat diesel engine on the other hand or a vhf.....

The Sale Of Goods Act 1979 gives consumers the power to sue a retailer for damages up to six years after a product is bought if it breaks down during that time.

me too,

my first 7200 had a dodgy thermometer sensor (in the mike if anyone is wondering). Nothing drastic, I expected and would have been more than happy with repair, I actually thought it would be a firmware problem to be honest. The radio and serious stuff was fine.

I even said to the chap, as it was winter I was in no massive rush, but navman sent me a new unit out by return of post. Very happy to deal with, in fact we had a good chat about the product, hence knowing how the barometer and temp etc are set up...

Fully endorse and one of the reasons I always pitch in NAVMAN VHFs when people ask on here. Thank you for sharing your soap box!
