Thanks, but the manuals explain how to connect the wiring - I need to know the socket pin functions as I don't have the wire harness. Model is FISH 4430...

Right, got it open and have attached 12v to the big diode as shown. Device lowers up ok and enters simulation mode. All functions appear to work. Now need to find pins forsaken transducer connection. Held to my ear I can hear the thing ticking so the output seems ok. However I've tested all the pins to ground with a digital meter and one of them gives around 6v on ac range, nothing on dc. If it's kicking out at 200khz would my meter see this? And what voltage is applied to a transducer by a sounder? Any other way to identify the transducer output?
If you do find out which pins control what on the connector, please post your findings here!
