Luckily, I discovered that the harbour trust 'police' boat has an identical Navman Fish 4150, so I took the unit over to their boat and they kindly plugged it into their transducer with a perfect reading.

For the last few weeks, not only was the depth flicking between the true depth and 0.6 meters, it started showing only 13 metres, even if there was 1 metre below the keel. Then on Saturday it threw up spurious figures and readings.

I had cleaned the transom mounted transducer, but that did not affect the reading.

Anyway, a call to Dickies and they should have a new transducer and cable for me in a week in exchange for 65 beer tokens.

Aha! good news eh?
Cept the beer tokens element. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
That's Me redundant then, as a Fish finder that is.
Thought I,d get in there First!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks guys, kick a fellah when he is down.

Dickies have just rung to say that new transducer cannot be had until next week, so I will have to pick it up after SIBS as I am orf to France soon.

Once it is fitted, then I can actually see the fish running for cover.
