Navman 900 GPS Antenna

Can anyone help with this, it may be an already covered or just plain dumb question:

I have an old Navman 900. There is nothing wrong with it, it still takes C-Map charts and does everything it should EXCEPT - the antenna did not come with the boat. Plastimo want £200+ for an antenna, which seems a bit OTT to me. Will any old NMEA antenna work, so long as it's got a 5-pin plug on it, or do I need a "special" antenna? Any advice on this would be really welcome.

Think I've got one at home ,lead has been cut and the plug is probably still on boat (need to check) Any use?

That would be great, thank-you! I can get a plug in Maplins if you haven't got it or can't find it. How much are you thinking about?

the navman uses a diff gps . unfortunately an ordinary gps ariel will not work.but you may have a solution anyway

Yes, so far as I can gather from the specs the Navman does use something different to "standard" or certainly most of what I can find on eBay - but is that NMEA GPS or is NMEA just what all GPS signals are?

The antenna in the Navman 900 is a complete GPS with NMEA output. I have not tried to substitude, but I had it connected to an Rs232 input.
