Hi. I have a Navman 7110 DSC VHF with a remote handset that has a pretty good digital display (showing lat/long/course/speed as well as vhf related info.) Unfortunately the remote handset isn't working properly - the display is fine and it receives incoming voice communications but it won't allow me to transmit from it. All other functions seem to work and when I hold the PTT / push-to-talk button the "TX" icon shows on the screen. So I am assuming that the button works and there is some problem with the microphone or elsewhere in the circuitry. Query:
1. can anyone recommend somewhere within Essex / Suffolk that can repair this stuff at an economic price - it it costs a ton of money I may as well just buy a new set
2. does anyone know whether you can still buy the second handset from anywhere
3. does anyone have a spare second handset kicking around that they dont use and want to part with for a sensible sum (I know sometimes people bought these sets for smaller boats / motorboats so had no need to use the second handset)
I really like the vhf and the main set still works perfectly, so I'd really like to fix or replace the handset if possible.
Thanks very much.

Since its origins in NZ, Navman Marine seem to have changed hands a few times, including Brunswick and currently Navico, who marketed it as Northstar and now Simrad:

I am not sure whether Navco/Simrad still make your particular model - we have a Navman VHF 7100 DSC, which looks identical externally to the RS12 VHF - but it might be worth contacting them to see if they do and whether they carry spares, or know a man who does.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Rob.
