Those, like me, who complained last year when Navionics removed the ability to Synch waypoints and routes with Raymarine e series plotters should be happy. They released a new update today and plotter synch is back!

Maybe all of those complaints to Navionics and Raymarine did some good.

Haven't tried the new system, but it seems more robust. Navionics even had the courtesy to email and tell me it was back, and invite me to a "webinar"

No connection etc etc, just previously a vociferous complainer.

Sorry, what is the name of the Navionics SW package ?

Thanks,

Boo2

This refers to the ability to synch routes and waypoints between the Navionics Ipad, ipod or Android App and a Raymarine e or a series plotter. It was one of the principal attractions of buying Raymarine when we upgraded 2 years ago, enabling you to plan your route on a tablet and then upload it. Last March Navionics suddenly deleted the functioanlity on an upgrade of the tablet software without telling anyone. (Including Raymarine, apparently). Seems very simple to use. They say the old version was to buggy. My view is that they wanted to introduce Sonar charts and the rest which transferred data to them, and prioritised that over the simple convenience of the boating community. There was an outcry though and they seemed to get the message.

Gotcha, so it's all about transferring between planning you do on the app with your unit. Seems really convenient since I do a lot of daydream route planning on the Boating HD app if I can just transfer everything over to my unit wirelessly...Raymarine E series is inching out in front of the other units I'm considering :)

I think some B&G units are using the GoFree wireless which let's you control the plotter from your tablet and I believe you can sync routes through that...but I could be wrong. Does anyone know for sure?

I've tried it from my iPad to my Raymarine e95 and it does work sort of. Routes and Waypoints sync to an archive folder on the Navionics chart SD card from where you can pick then import them. In theory you can also then update your chart plotter charts from the charts on the iPad however this does not work if you have a Navionics Gold card but it does work if you have a Navionics Updates or Platinum card. You can update a Gold card to an Updates card for Euros 99 and you also get a year of freshest data (the same price as going for freshest data on it's own).
