I have this year used Navionics on Ipad (version with GPS and WiFi ) on an extensive charter in Croatia. Found it excellent, so easy to plan a route and follow progress. Weather info available when on wifi. Much easier to use than the charter boats chartplotter system. Always proved accurate.
And as a bonus I used it to track my return journey by rail back to UK . Tracked the route and showed train speed, max 225mph in Germany, compares around 130mph on Eurostar.

Trying to print off the tracks, cant find a way to do that yet.

I use the iPad in Greece. During the day I press the two buttons to take several snapshots of the screen. I can then load the photos into keynote or powerpoint and it gives you a nice slideshow of the route.

Not sure what you want, but why not just do screen prints?

You can email any routes stored by Navionics. The routes export in a standard (kvm? Something like that) file that can be imported into google maps/earth.

Sorry to be so thick, but how do you do a screen shot from the iPad from the Navionics app....in fact ANY screen shot from the iPad! Are there some instructions anywhere for using the Navionics app as I can't work out how to use it to full advantage, unlike lots of you on here!

Ta for any pointers, especially if explained as if to a 2 yr old! :o:o

Agreed, are there any instructions? I just poke and hope to find out. Is it possible to print from screen?

marginal drift from topic but somebody will know.... If I buy the wifi Plus 3G iPad for the GPS function, will the GPS work without having to buy a contract as well?

"Just finding my way around my ipad. How do you get it to show your track and can this be done while you are using it to navigate to a waypoint?"

Sorry, disregard the above daft question as I. Have just noticed how to do it. In mind mind I was mixing Routes with Tracks

Yes as another has said. apple describe the i pad with 3G as having enhanced GPS and it works at sea. I do not have a SIM card fitted.

My understanding is that without 3G an i pad locates itself from local radio masts.

There is a tutorial if you scroll down a bit under settings and also if you click help. There is also a utube video online.
Btw if you are doing some planning in the app is a inapp purchase called Navmodule. It will allow you to build a route and follow it giving distance to each point, ETA, speed, compass heading, etc... I think it's $5 on the ipad
