Navionics on a Hudl2

Should I download the Europe HD version or the much cheaper non HD version? Will I gain much extra detail from the HD one? My main use for it is to keep a track, which I can hopefully measure as a check on the log. Will either version do that?

Have you tried experimenting with the free versions?

The description for Navonics' Boating HD says "optimized to run on tablets and will not run on phones", whereas the other says "This is the version for your phone. … If you have a tablet, please search our HD app." Suspect the latter will work on tablets, probably not so well laid out, though.

It seems that you get more detail at lower zoom levels with the HD version. I'd get the HD if I were starting from scratch but I already have the standard version from when I only used it on my phone. The navigation add on is well worth £1.69 in my view

Thank you all. I have just tried the free HD version, which I had not realised existed, and will buy the HD Europe maps after I have done the latest Hudl update.
