Navionics new Boating App has anyone used this yet?

Neptune does not work on Apple or I pad. I registered to be a tester for the Apple version but they said they were not progressing it. They have the Android version.
My windows version still works on an old laptop.

Have all data in the internal memory at the moment but would like to move them to the sdcard. Unfortunately could not find any option settings for doing this.
Can anyone advise how to move the data and possibly also the app in Andriod from internal memory to sdcard?
I tried uninstall and reinstall but ended up again unchanged.
Thanks

1. You need to play with it more to learn how to use it (I am talking about Navionics). You are only limited by the available device memory when downloading charts. Yes the selectable rectangle has a maximum size but you can move the chart around underneath the rectangle. If you make the rectangle too large you will end up downloading useless areas of ‘land’ detail.
2. I would still recommend you do get a waterproof case (I recommend Lifeproof Nuud covers).

If you zoom in an area of approx 15 miles will download provided you have an internet connection.
I have a lifedge hard waterproof case with a charging socket (note when charging case is not fully waterproof) which clips into an adjustable bracket for use on the fly bridge (this however I use as a repeater for my Wi-fi Raymarine

The new app just brought together a group of functions they had on others and brings the app to multiple devices and syncing with many chart plotters. Never had any issues.the auto routing saves loads of time preplanning.

As said doing planning and routing at home or in the pub is great and the then syncing with plotter brilliant.

I have had the chart plotter sync all the routes, waypoints etc to navionics on iPad but I was unaware thar the planned route on the iPad would transfer to the plotter.
This would be useful as I currently still have to enter the route manually onto the plotter to use auto helm following track

Where are the charts stored on an Android device and can you select a location? Reason I'm aksing is my internal memory is getting full but I've oodles of space on the card.

Just read up on the Navionics site
https://www.navionics.com/gbr/charts/features/plotter-sync/raymarine-how-to

It would seem I need an active subscription for both iPad and chart plotter. Got the iPad uptodate at £35 but they want to take £229 to update the Raymarine.........I’ll stick to the iPad

I've had this problem as well. You don't get an option to store them on the card. If you use openCPN you can choose to store the charts on your card but not the Navionics app.

I believe you need a WiFi enabled chart plotter to download the Navionics routes from the IPad. I did find a useful work around to get the Navionics routes and waypoints onto my Garmin inReach:

1) From Navionics export the route (this creates a URL link to the Navionics site to download as a KML file).this can be loaded into Google Earth.

2) Use GPSVisualizer (google for link, this is free to use) to convert KML file to GPX file which can be downloaded.

3) Import GPX file into Garmin InReach after logging into your Garmin Account.

4) Share the saved route on Garmin Mapshare.... you can then share the Mapshare link so friends can follow your track against your planned route.

Slightly off topic.... but you can follow a similar approach to load a Fastseas weather route into your Garmin inReach/mapshare so you can track progress against best physical route and weather route (you can colour code them differetly so their easier to read)

I only pay just over £100 for subscription for chart plotter update, I think the £229 is the initial purchase without any update from old cards, note these can be any other charts.

As normal I treat both these as £150 ish annual cost for sailing.

Being able to sync wavepoints and routes saves loads of time

Anyone using C-map Embark on an iPad?
I "upgraded" from plan2nav which was the previous app but I have to say although it works well when connected to the internet, the download offline maps function is a disaster.
Having paid for the area's that I will use this summer I find that the download speed is terrible, it often hangs and requires restarting and then areas I have previously downloaded suddenly become unavailable for no reason.
Ipad Air with tonnes of space and my other charting apps work fine so it's not the hardware.
Have to say it's disappointing having paid good money for the offline charts!

Anyone use Navionics on an iPad with Wifi connection to external NMEA data (in my case depth data to support Sonarchart Live)? On my old iPad 2 and original Navionics it works fine. On the latest iPad on which I have installed the Navionics Boating app, it doesn't see the data even though the Wifi connection is working and verified. You can't configure anything in the Boating app to help with the connection. Any ideas please?
