Hi,

I bought Navionics charts *Navionics XL9 chart - MSD-28XG, UK, Ireland & Holland* back in May but because I didn't get afloat this year I didn't bother to register it at that time. I just now installed the Navionics Chartinstaller program so as to get a "Freshest Data" upgrade to the charts but the program tells me that
It looks like you may have missed the two-month activation window for Freshest Data subscription. However, if you purchased your chart in the last two months, you are still eligible. Please fill in your purchase details. Once verified, we will be happy to activate your subscription.

This two month limitation on "Freshest Data" is nowhere mentioned on Navionics website (as far as I can tell) and neither does it appear on Pixmarine's webpage for the product here : http://www.pixmarine.co.uk/xl9-chart-cf-28xg-uk-ireland-holland

Needless to say there is no such limitation on the packaging or the instructions which just state
...Freshest Data eligible...
and
...Freshest Data gives you acces to Navionic's most current database which includes the latest notices to mariners,...Navionics Gold XL9 charts are eligible for unlimited updates to the nautical chart for one year.
Get the freshest Data. It's as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Go to Navionics.com - 2. Plug in your chart - 3. The rest happens by itself! It really is that easy!

So what do I do next ? Should I get in touch with Pixmarine or with Navionics ? AIUI it is not permissable in law for them to impose a restriction in terms after the sale so I suppose in the relevant consumer law I should try to get restitution from Pixmarine ? Is there any point in going to the trading standards officer about this, and if so then which is the relevant one, my local council or Pixmarine's/Navionic's ?

Any advice gratefully received,

Boo2

Indeed. On the advice of Navionics themselves I entered a date
less than two months old and everything proceeded fine.
This was a couple of years ago mind, so not to say the system is still the same

Thanks to all who replied, filling in a later date did work and gives me a whole year of updates too.

Navionics is getting some bad press on here recently. It is making me think that an alternative might be better.

Guess it depends on whether you are intending to use it in a PC or a plotter - most plotters are tied to a single make of charting so you really don't have the choice.
