Morning Peeps.

Now I've upgraded my Samsung Galaxy phone to Android 2.x (without any help from Samsung nor T-Mobile. Useless... (blank)) I can install navionics.

Any users on here think it's a worthwhile install for backup / basic nav work?

Many thanks,

Nik

Hi Nik
Thought about doing the same with my Galaxy S. Read a couple of reports that it eats battery power in 2hrs so I have left it at present. Let me know how it goes if you do install it.
Any joy with the tracks?
David.

Hi David,

Well i've a 12v hookup on my Galaxy so I can plug it in on the boat but it defeats the object a bit if I have to use my mobile with a lead in it. :D

No joy on the tracks yet. Car is in the garage for a few days and been tied up fitting my kitchen. Hopefully be back down the boat Tuesday so 'll be looking at the track situation then.

cheers,

Nik

I've got Navionics running happily under 1.6 on my Dell Streak. It's basically Navionics charts - the question isn't about the charts or software so much as whether you can live with the screen size and interface and trust the phone to work under the conditions you may need it to (rain/spray and bright sunlight, etc.).

Thanks for that. Well i'm trying to find where Navionics on a Smart phone would fit into how I do things. I've a garmin GPS 152 onboard plus the obligatory paper charts so this would be to assist when in the cabin.

I've also an old Garmin GPS Map 230 at home too but chart data is obsolete for that unfortunately)

Maybe for the sake of 20 quid charts on my phone would be worth a play but maybe we'll see.
