..other than completely disabling the iphone/ipad auto lock?

I tried Navionics on a run from Brighton to Littlehampton yesterday and it worked well but I had to disable the auto lock completely.. On my driving satnav apps and even some of the other marine nav apps it keeps the device awake for as long as the app is open.. Surely Navionics have built this functionality in as well!?!? I couldn't see it in any settings though..

Strange, I haven't noticed this behaviour. As with many other "keep open" apps, Navionics stays front and centre until I tell it to go. Well, this is certainly how it worked last time I used it.

Hmmmm.. That's odd then.. I loaded it on both my iPhone and iPad Mini (it's not the HD version) and both went to sleep.. Maybe I will try fully rebooting the devices and see if that helps..

Just tried it out on my iPhone, as that's what I have to hand. The app is remaining front and centre without any input. I did have a look at the settings, but also couldn't find anything I may have toggled in the past.

On my Android version i think it's here in settings (screen on)

Just looked through it again on the iPad Mini and there is definitely no setting to keep the screen on.. Might have to drop them an email and see what they say..

Did you have it connected to power?? I think it stays on then. I have used iPhone and original iPad and don't remember a problem other than we had to rig them both up to a charger for some reason..... probably to get them to stay on???? A USB cig lighter adaptor works well, but for the iPad you should try to get a 2A one although lower current ones still charge (SLOOOOWLY) even though they give error messages.

Mine does the same, I just go into the phone settings and switch power saver off, Iirc I have to do the same with the tomtom app.

@Alpha22 - Yes, it was connected to power yesterday when using it on board..

@lynall - That's what I did.. It's not a big deal would just be nice if it worked automatically..

Must say I really like the app.. I got the non-HD version so I can have it on my phone and iPad Mini (and seeing as it's a Mini I didn't see much point in the HD version anyway).. I'm disappointed how they have intentionally reduced the clarity of the maps and on the iPad Mini also it doesn't fill the screen, there is about a 10mm black border the whole way around.. They use vector charts so like a PDF it shouldn't matter the screen size or resolution, the image and text should always be clear and sharp but this isn't at all.. Obviously done to push people to get the HD version.. I was under the impression that the HD version simply showed more details, not that the clarity of the image presented was reduced on the SD version.. Anyway, it did the job.. :)
