Navionics Classic and Large Classic charts....opinions?

Hi to all....
has anyone any comments about these charts, are they reasonable , good or what ? i know they don't have all the whistles and bells that the more recent charts do but are they nontheless a good chart to use please ?

I have Navionics on a Raymarine plotter. I don't much like the Raymarine software, but the charts themselves are very good, clear, detailed.

I have just bought at c. 10% of the original price a new "old stock" plotter that uses Navionics Classic L charts on the Navchart format. It will be perfectly adequate for my needs. The charts are more expensive per sq mile than some later ones, but better value if your cruising doesn't take you out of one of their chart areas - my cartridge covers Hastings to Amsterdam which is enough for me. Not exactly what you were asking, I know, but it might be useful if you decide to take the next step.

Just be aware of some unfortunate omissions... such as the foremost Porcé lighthouse near Saint-Nazaire in Loire estuary (it won't move even if you are USS Enterprise /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) ... and some other jokes in various places.
But that is the usual problem with digital cartography, so you can't get rid of the consecrated paper charts...
