Why, has the coast moved? :-)

Only joking of course, and I know some people like to have the most up to date information, though i've never quite seen the point myself. Sand banks can shift around at any time, so you can't rely on the chart regardless of how new it is, and buoyage/light changes are pretty rare, and of course if your chart plotter is working you know where you are anyway, without the need for buoys or lights.

Is there another reason you like to get regular chart updates?

Nick, please let me know who teaches you? Cos I'll damn sure I wont use them!!!!!! Geeez Man!

I've no idea what actual "updates" they apply, other than to add more photos, and, errm, put Hayling Island back in the right place which apparently was some sort of merge error when the first Platinum Plus charts were stitched together.

There's loads of small things that aren't right on mine. West Pole has moved, the buoy outside Newtown creek has moved, several other buoys in the Solent have disappeared completely. The bar outside Chichester Harbour is not really in the right place... etc. etc.

At least they have put in the "bump" at East Head that people kept trying to anchor on top of.
