Navionics cards

Anybody made a backup card of your charts ? I note the navionics information says it's not recommended. (Wonder why?)

Raymarine suggest the only card to use for backing up waypoints is a SanDisc.

Navionics charts are copy protected, so you can't make a back-up card.

You can make a backup copy of the files on the card (in case you accidentaly wipe them) - but they are copy protected and encrypted using the memory cards unique ID - so can only be used on the memory card they came from.

I guess they recommend not to do it in case someone messes up the copying
