I was complaining a few weeks ago about the Navionics App on my iPad - specifically that whilst it displayed the position it didn't show the heading. I initially put it down to boat speed but as the same problem occurred when sailing at 5 knots, I raised the issue with Navionics. They took a week or so to comeback to me but e-mailed yesterday to say that I should uninstall the app and install the new version 4.7 (released yesterday).
As I will not be sailing again for a couple of weeks I tried the app whilst 'sailing' my car in the local supermarket car park and it now works fine with quick and accurate responses
Navionics advise that it should only work above 2 knots but I found it was still giving speed and accurate headings at 1.5 knots ( which feels in a car as though you are almost stopped).
The only slight problem is that in doing this is that I seem to have lost the 'Nav Module' which it now says I need to buy again.
Good service.
