Hi all

When I zoomed in the Navionics app around my area, I have found an interesting discovery: 2 islands and a marina that does not exist !
However - It seems to be familiar - I recognised it from a practice map I got from my sailing school.
After a college of mine contacted Navionics they updated the map and the islands are not there anymore - but the small marina is still there..
My concern is simple - How can I trust this app when I sail in a place I don't know at all ? Don't they get their data from official sources ?
Meanwhile I will harry with my fake boat to the fake marina to have some unforgettable moments.

Did you read the disclamer as you started up the application?

These disclaimers should not be a 'get out of gaol free' card to allow chart vendors to shrug off responsibility for glaring errors and inaccuracies.

I wonder why the legal profession insists they are placed there?

It's another legal argument you have to win (= higher litigation costs) in the event of you trying to sue them. The more defensive arguments they have the less likely anyone will try to sue them.

Is it right that they sell a product they try to absolve themselves of liability for? No, of course not. But they do it anyway. And we foolishly buy their products anyway.

Yes, but this not a matter of a new marina that not been updated to the chart. It is false marina and islands !
