Such a great App. Really useful when you are looking for a new anchorage or marina.

Could this be the end of paper almanacs?

Here's a quick tutorial and review of Navily that was made whilst delivering a Hallberg Rassy 50 to Cannes:

I’m certainly a big fan of Navily in my sailing area. It’s a great resource, and I like that the app flags it up if a place has only a few reviews.

I'd like to give a thumbs up to Zulu offshore

Just had a look at the shoreline of Blighty and not sure it would be of much use! Good if you're further afield though

I'm surprised how patchy the Navily reviews are. In some places every tiny nook and cranny of the coast is marked up, but in other places there's almost nothing. I suppose that will always be the way with user generated content.
One slight downside is that occasionally people give an anchorage a bad review because they didn't like the menu at the restaurant, or the staff at the car hire we're rude.

I'm mostly into the new tech but, whilst I find the digital mapping solutions excellent, I still generally reach for a well thought out, recent paper pilot guide or almanac.

Honourable mention, however, for eOceanic for Ireland.

Ive used Navily (and eOceanic) around the Irish Sea and it has offered some useful additions to pilot guides especially for passage anchoring. The shelter information is useful. Agree with others that having a variety of information sources is best and especially beyond Internet range.

Aware of Navily, which is a useful resource.

But I simply don’t get why an “almanac” ever made any sense as a source of information on anchorages and places to cruise (other than perhaps to delivery skippers who cover long distances and only rarely put into harbour and never stop just to enjoy a remote anchorage).
Almanacs tend to cover huge areas very sparsely, focussing on the main harbours. And gets binned each year as also combined with tide data.
Whereas a proper pilot boot - like the superb Clyde Cruising Club Sailing Directions for Scotland, East Coast Pilot for (South) East England, Channel Pilot, etc etc are massively more detailed and relevant for the areas might want to cruise in.
In one example I think I counted an area covered in 8 pages vs 140 pages.
So for me a formal pilot book / sailing directions - plus apps for tides and supplementary location reports works best.

I miss proper pilot books.
Out here in the Caribbean we have the Doyle's Guides, which give a little information about anchoring, and a lot of information about restaurants, bars and shopping.
I bought the one covering Martinique with the intention of circumnavigating the island. It was pretty disappointing to find that it doesn't cover the windward side at all. Probably not enough beach bars on that side.
