Er.... NO. The river was not shut. Indeed the river needed to remain open and operational for liveaboards who needed to move their boats for operational purposes like pumping out.... something i would have thought you realised as that is your name and Avatar!

"Sunbury Lock has a sunken boat in the main channel above the lock cut. No attempt should be made to navigate in this area."

Er ... there has been a tree obstructing Marsh Lock for weeks and a sunken van at Oxford to name but a few.
 

Looks perfectly normal to those of us who use the tidal Medway below Allington Lock. Mind you ,we normally enjoy avoiding a settee or two as well
Must confess our EA lads down here would have probably shifted that before now .
Get a rope round it , tow it round the corner out of the way and sort it later ?
