navicom RT-450 DSC radio to garmin 128 GPS

Instead of the 2 wires referred to in the handbook the radio has a 8 pin male mini din plug as the nmea output. Do I just cut this off? The Garmin has two bare wires. How to procede ?

Yes, you could either cut the plug off or get a matching socket. Garmin blue connects to Navicom yellow (which may be pin 3 or pin 5 - the user manual wrongly says both!); Garmin black connects to Navicom green (pin 4). You'll need to set the Garmin interface menu to "None/NMEA".
