Navico WD200 Problems

I am having trouble with the WD200 unit (flickers around 30 degrees port and sits on 30 degrees port when the MHU is disconnected) can anyone help diagnose whether this could be wiring, or Masthead Unit or Junction Box ? I am having trouble finding anyone (in NZ) who knows enough about these units to help.

FWIW I used to have a set of Navico instruments including the WD 200, already on board when I bought the boat. I spent a fair amount sending the various bits off for repair but never got it all working. In the end, I gave up and bought a nice set of Raytheon ST60s.
