The bulb socket on my bicolour bow light, older and no longer available, has corroded beyond repair. I'm keen to keep the existing light fitting as it compliments my boat's other nav. light fittings but I can't find a source of a similar component. I'd be grateful for any suggestions as as to where or from whom I might source a similar component/socket.

Hi Quinn,

Ypur photo is without dimensional help, so it's hard to be sure what socket that is, but it looks like it could be a BA15d socket. They come in 2 different types, one with the pins on the bulb directly opposite each other and the other type with one bulb pin further into the socket than the other (called offset pin). The latter type means the bulb will only go in one way, you can't rotate it 180 degrees and plug it in. Again, your photo only shows the one cutout for a bulb pin, so I can't see if the other is offset or not.

On the site Adam linked to, they seem to call the offset pin arrangement "BAY15D" and the opposite pin "BA15D"

Peter.

Thanks, Adamlang, haven't come across Boatlamps before but have ordered what I think is the replacement I need.

Thanks also Peter, it is an offset pin I need but I think I've ordered the right thing. Boatlamps may well be a useful resource in the future.
