Are there any Nauticat 38 / 44 owners in or near Plymouth, or in Devon or Cornwall who would be willing to give me a quick tour of their boat? I'd like to get a feel for the size and space etc. and would appreciate any help or advice on buying and owning a Nauticat before I start trooping round the country!

There's an active owners club here:

http://www.nauticat.co.uk/

I've a N39; so probably not much use to you in describing sailing characteristics etc - the motorsailors are quite different to the pilot house yacht's. Quality, needless to say, is excellent and that's why you pay what seems to be a mad price (when you can buy a brand new french boat for half the price of a five/ten year old Nauticat it all seems a bit mad!) If there is anything which you think I can help on then please do come back to me.

Try the NAuticat owners association .Very good boats..you have to decide if you want one or two doors on the pilot house. If you go for one door it can be difficult getting out of the wheelhouse if heeled the wrong way /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have a 38 which is currently in Italy. The 38 is the best sailer they say but it is after all a motor sailer and I have found it to at its best doing just that. I havnt had much opportunity to sail without the engine in the med. I knowthat they are expensive but they are worth every penny I think the build quality is superb. The UK nauticat Assoc is good for technical advice and nauticatusa.com have a good forum.
