Hi
Does anyone know where I can get a new 'movement' for a Nauticalia Tide Clock? I'm after the AA battery powered clock 'gubbins' that will give me time and tide to replace the faulty unit in the clock at our local Lifeboat Station. Please do not suggest contacting Nauticalia themselves,I've tried that and they were as much help as using petrol to extinguish a fire.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers

Tackle Nauticalia again but at a higher level. Hint that they might like to donate a new clock if you publicise their generous gesture.

Get Ellie on your case !

Alpha22-You are a Star,I'll measure the hands in the Boathouse tomorrow.
VicS-ta for the advice, but I must admit that I got the 'bums rush' when asking Nauticalia for help yesterday morning. It didn't help that the doner of the clock and barometer was present when I phoned them.I myself would't touch them with a barge pole in the future.
Cheers

Oh its just the cheap and nasty one that just shows the state of the tide and the hour is it. Not worth repairing is it ?

The movement in the ebay link doesnt even have an hour hand

I assumed it would be one of the v. expensive ones, made by Schatz, with a conventional clock face and hands to show the time as well as the state of the tide.

VicS-Ours is the Schatz one with 'four hands',but with a different face to the one in your piccy.I'm hoping that the guy on E Bay will stock the other movements as well as the one shown in the advert,I will contact him from the work computer later this morning.Googleing Schatz has not given us any leads so far.We have had a standard movement put into the clock for the time being so that at least it tells the time, but the doner(an ex Coxswain) of the clock and matching barometer, wants it done properly. He paid a lot of money for it,and likes things to be 'right'.

The one pictured in my post is one of two Schatz models that Nauticalia offer . Different sizes and different faces too. They possibly vary a bit over the years as well.
One is very expensive, the other even more expensive!

You might have to have another go at contacting Schatz.

Nothing to lose perhaps in letting local clock repairer look at it. Ive found that these sorts of things often suffer from bad solder joints but they can be a bit fiddly to take apart, even more fiddly to put back together!

I expect the donor is disappointed. Good luck with it
