That's the thing that baffles me most about all this ... how very, very much some people seem to care about the terms other people use on their boats.

Baffled? Ah, you have fallen prey to a standard internet misconception, or, possibly (and more likely), you have decided to employ a standard internet ploy.

If the former, keep in mind that arguing for a point of view and caring whether a gang of strangers on the internet actually share that point of view are two very different things and not to be conflated. Thus believing in the utility of a shared language in no way equates to caring whether other people use it on their own boats. It's just a question of sharpening up your thinking.

If the latter, on the other hand, then you are just playing an old (perhaps as old as 25 years or so) internet game and I can't help you. Sorry.
