SAILING: the fine art of getting wet and becoming ill while slowly going nowhere at great expense.
DEVIATION: Directional inaccuracy in a compass caused by it's tendency to point at an tenth of an ounce metal filling instead of a 7,900 mile diameter, 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tonne planet.
SOLO SAILING: The only situation where the skipper does not immediately blame the crew for every single thing that goes wrong.
SPINNAKER: Very large colourful pennant traditionally flown from the top of the mainmast when running down wind.
and finally
WAKE: 1.Horizontal track in the water caused by the passage of a boat
2.Ceremony held if that track becomes vertical.
Any more ?
