Naughty boy!

Oh my God, that's shocking..... Seriously I fail to see the issue here, nothing moored up, nothing oncoming, wake is pretty pathetic, I see plenty of larger boats kicking up far more than that at half the speed. Which by the way doesn't really bother me either but that's me. Each to their own etc but I struggle with the issue on this one.

+2.

I was on the motorway today doing 70 mph when I was overtaken by someone doing what I thought was 90mph, so I shouted at him to slow down .

Wash only bothers me (sometimes) when I'm moored up but heh, that's life. We ain't gonna stop it by shouting at the alleged offender. One day someone will take offence at being shouted at and turn round and give it what for.

Heading downstream towards Caversham lock today, this little idiot decided to overtake while mummy was downstairs.

He gave me a cocky little wave as he passed, and ignored SWMBO calling him to slow down, so the EA are getting this one...:D

On another thread you wrote this:- "and in fairness it was in an uninhibited stretch rather than past moored boats, which won't please all of you but is less wrong."....

And he hammered past those! There were a few before that though.

This is like the last speeding thread, nobody gives a monkeys...strange!?

It's not easy from the camera angle to accurately gauge the wash given that there's no breaking water, but it doesn't seem to be that bad. I know from my boat, with a fairly high steering position, it's not that easy to see. My rule of thumb is that if small moored boats seem to move about too much I ease the throttles back irrespective of what the wash looks like.

did not look bad to me , seems like an over reaction, but I wasn't there

Right you gits, back on a Computer now :D

The little boat pulled out of a lock, and sat in apathy behind a narrow boat at 3.8mph indicated.

I overtook them both, took a mile to do it, but did it very properly.

Little chap then decided to overtake me, while a hire boat appeared to be racing him, as there were beer drinking people hanging out of the window cheering, and the broads-type rental also attempted to overtake.

Smart Alec gave me a cocky wave and sneer on the way past, so I deceided to film them all, the rental boat immediately dropped back with cries of 'He's got a camera!' but the other idiot ploughed on, thrashing his 15hp to the max and causing a long and tall wake, which was clearly breaking and mashing up the bank.

This destroys banks, wildlife and a little further down we could still see boats rocking way after he passed. The locky at Caversham saw the video footage and gave the mother a right old rollocking.

If any of you think thats acceptable, you are quite clearly insane. :(

Post up the full vid then! That way I'm sure it will demonstrate it more clearly than the first attempt, which IMHO still doesn't amount to much really, sorry but I still just don't see it, the wash is no worse than a normal wash, all boats pretty much create some and eventually it hits a bank, c'est la vie.
