Yes folks this is a bit of a rant because I have had my dinghy stolen.
It was stolen from Fareham a couple of weeks ago & though practically worthless because it is so tatty it is crucial to me......I use it to get out & back to my boat all the time plus tow it around everywhere I go.
My mind boggles at the mental state of anyone that would go to all the trouble of stealing a dinghy as practically worthless as mine which was chained down in broad daylight while all around were much more valuable dinghy's that were not secured in any way as far as I know.
I believe it was taken away by road.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of a 6/7' fiberglass simulated clinker round bilge type pram dinghy.Dirty white/cream on the outside & gray on the inside with vivid freshly painted chocolate brown woodwork I would be very grateful if they would get in touch & if the culprits were detained with their arms some how broken also I would even say delighted.

I have just seen your post and thought I would post a response.

I and Jim_bobby were up in your neck of the woods about the time you lost your dinghy.

There were some nare-do-wells mucking about in a boat exactly of that discription and we both commented on it. I was obiously was not their dinghy.

Later, we saw the police launch proceed up towards Fareham and half an hour later it returned and passed us to port towing a grubby FG dinghy. They had obviously kicked the lads out of it and were towing it away towards QHM.

I wonder if that was your one?

If it was in such a bad state it could be that the Council removed it. Just a thought.

I doubt it because it was clearly used constantly & it was chained down while there is a clearly abandoned one about 50 yards away just derelict.
Also it had a brand new bit of heavy mooring chain under it attached to the main chain that was untouched. All a bit odd but I reckon it was targeted deliberately by someone wanting a light weight dinghy to sling on a car roof & cart off to some lakes to go fishing......it was taken during broad daylight!

I would be surprised lenseman because it was taken between 13.30 & 7.30 in the evening & the tide was out until about one hour before I arrived there at 7.30 so they only had about one hour to get away from there by water.Plus a friend had gone down stream about that time & he & others saw nothing so I reckon it was slung in the back of a pickup truck.
Also the fuzz gave me a case number & I would hope that they would have checked with the QHM.
Tempted to check but that would present me with a problem if I recovered that dinghy now.I have just bought another one & would have no where to store it now, it would just become a liability:rolleyes:

You can sell anything on Ebay! Or did insurance pay for the new one?!

Was'nt on the insurance as I have to pay the first 60 quid I think it is of any claim & it was'nt worth that much anyway.
As for putting stuff on ebay I am too lazy otherwise I would get round to trying to sell my Audiolab 1000A amplifier & other stuff.Want to buy it? :)

Have you tried Mod Plod ?

There is a notice in Premier Gosport with a contact No

When I was rushing around like a mad man trying to track down the culprits a nice couple that live close by contacted the Police & a message relaid to me from them said "They can't send a marine unit out immediately but will look hard for it."......you would think then that they would cover all the angles of the QHM & MOD plod would'nt you?
I have left it to them & something of a fiasco has ensued......ignored my instructions to be contacted by email/last contact to the people that made the original phone call was something about assistance from victim support.

Perhaps the above statement explains why you can't find a job!

I can't be bothered to put that amplifier on ebay because it would involve me in parceling it up & transporting it by hand a mile or so to the local Post Office & I really don't need 100/150 quid that desperately.
You seem like a bitter & twisted individual to bring that up in a thread that is principally about theft, maybe you should get a life!
PS:That dinghy would only be worth about thirty quid if I did manage to sell it.I tell you what, you can have it if you locate it maybe that will cheer you up!;)
