Any ideas please, from a non electrically minded new to me boat owner.
Masthead unit is reportedly knackered having suffered a fallout with a large bird whilst boat has been in the yard.
Having looked at NASA website it seems there is a newer NMEA (I think) version and an older analogue version. NASA said check the wiring. 5 wires and it's analogue.
Thought about removing panel into which the display unit is mounted for the lower end of the wire, but the panel is sealed in. Not keen to disturb that. Not spoken to yard yet.
I need to decide whther to order analogue or digital unit for masthead before incuring cost of labour to replace. I'm not a mast climber.
Anyone got any other ideas on how to work out which one.
I suspect analogue but I'd like to be sure.
Thanks

Does your boat not have some connectors between the wires in the mast and those within the boat (so the mast can be removed without having to rewire the boat)? These, if you have it, will give you access to the wires.
Ditto this. Well worth sussing where you can access mast head cabling so next time there is an issue you can get straight onto it.
