Is it possible to replace the paddlewheel?

My wheel has lost a magnet and so reads only half-speed when it can be bothered to spin at all. I have a second unit which is dead but the wheel appears sound and so I would like to do a swap.

I have made a half-hearted attempt to push out the paddlewheel axle but without success. Is it just an intereference fit and will a more determined assault work?

I suppose I've got nothing to lose but thought I'd seek advice first.

The pin slides out on mine - I've done this to clean it. Just make sure it spins freely when you reassemble it.

Yes the pin will come out, and you should be able to get a new paddle at Duncans chandlers.

This is good to know - mine doesn't read at all (its clean) so the magnets are the prime culprit at the moment - I was going to replace, but this sounds much cheaper!

The cable was cut when I bought the boat - as its just co-axial I just rejoined it using phono audio plugs - will this work?

Also - my boat has old Target displays which have been replaced with Clipper ones - I assume the paddlewheel will feed the Clipper instead of the Target?
