Nasa target 2 windvane operation specific details( fixing issues)

How important is the metal ring inside the top peice of the windvane? Only reading 11 oclock to 2 o clock, going to pull back of screen and check connections.
Any ideas would be appreciated,

It's a magnet - so very important! It can get rusty so a gentle clean and a coat of paint will help. The magnetic field is detected by the circuit board inside the MHU.

Hey Neil, the magnet is really rusty, and a bit gone,took out the pcb and cleaned it up.Started having a play with the potentiometers and got it to read near correctly again, nasa will not send me information on how to adjust the potentiometers or what which one does what! I will work it out though and post here for members to calibrate their own nasa units! I am a electrician by trade and can fix most things, as long as i know what is supposed to do what!
