NASA Navtex instructions

I've got a Nasa Navtex Pro-plus fitted to the boat - but can't really make head or tail of the instructions for programming the stations or message filter (don't really want the ice or Dutch mine-sweeping warnings!). Also, when I turn it on, the unit does not automatically go into receive mode but presents a menu option whereby I have to press buttons to go into receive mode. Finally, sometimes the display 'disappears' but a bit of prodding proves the unit has been working and messages received.

Have I got a duff unit? (the machine not me!). A last PBO Group Test on Navtex stated the Nasa was simple to programme through the on-line menus; cant say that I can agree with that.

Anyone got any advice?

thx

Hi I have the pro (dont know the pro plus) and you get menu up if unit has been off for long time ,(int battery) to select programs press "up" you will see the alphabet along the bottom, any letters in lower case are disgarded and capitol letters are selected, do same for msgs Also on the back is a contrast control if not set correct display will disappear..

Hi Tony

Have you sussed it yet? And do you have the Manual? (Can copy one if you need it).

I recognise your boat's name, I'm in the same marina. Could assist the set-up at some time if that would help.

Won't get chance to get down to the marina for a week or so - I'll drop you a line when I am going down and maybe take advantage of your most generous offer!

Thx
